Understanding condensation risk (ISO 13788:2001) within your Wall Systems is super easy on Speckel.
The steps below will allow you to undertaken condensation assessment automatically when you build a Wall System to the requirements of J 1.5 – Total System R-value for walls (AS/NZS 4859.2:2018) requirements, including thermal bridging (NZS 4214:2006).
Step 1 – Let’s first reuse the Lightweight Cladding (Cavity fixed to 92mm steel frame) Wall System we created in Wall Systems Tutorial 1 – Getting Started. For this example, we will use this Design in Melbourne, within a Class 5 Office building, so you may need to create another Project to follow along.
Step 2 – Reviewing a Wall System condensation risk could not be easier. Simply navigate the material layers and select the membrane layer. Let’s toggle between generic vapour barrier and vapour permeable membranes to see the change on the condensate and relative humidity build-up. You can also adjust the air cavity, as this will also impact the wall systems durability and performance, as will all other materials.
Step 3 – Next up… scroll down to the View Details to access our analytics function. Here you can see the monthly condensation risk, temperature, vapour flow and accumulation.
Step 4 - When your happy, simply click Performance Solution and download your Report.
