Creating a Concept

Create a Concept is a feature to add a conceptual wall system to your Glazing System. This allows you to assess your Glazing System against J1.5 Wall-glazing requirements by making some high-level assumptions regarding your Wall System.

Once Create a Concept is activated, it changes the unit of assessment from a Total U-value for the Glazing System to a Wall-Glazing Total U-value for the Wall-Glazing System.

The steps below will allow you to use the Create a Concept feature when you build a Glazing System to the requirements of Specification J1.5a - Calculation of U-Value and solar admittance.

Step 1 – Let’s first reuse the Fixed Double Glazed 150mm Aluminum - Thermally Broken Glazing System we created in Glazing Systems Tutorial 1 – Getting Started.

Step 2 – Next, we are going to toggle to Concept to switch from a Glazing System to a Wall-Glazing performance result. Here, we are simply allowing for a wall area to be included, showing the combined performance of both Glazing Systems and Wall Systems.

Step 3 – Time to play. Now you can tweak your design as you go, updating your conceptual wall areas and performance.

Step 4 – Once you are happy with your design, you can download a report and share it with your design team.
